Fridge & Room Temperature Light Protected Bag

About this product...

Aseptic pharmacy manufacturing is responsible for preparing/production of Cytotoxic/Cancer drugs. This often can be drugs added to the saline in the TPN bag or to the syringe which is then administered to the patient on the ward. Some of these products react with light so the Aseptic department covers the product in a light sensitive bag. The Aseptic department often double bag the product, the first layer of packaging is normally clear and heat sealed for security/protection and the second layer of packaging is the light sensitive bag. The second layer is often grip sealed so that the product can be opened and checked by the nurse before administering it.

Products are often either to be refrigerated or kept at room temperature and this is normally indicated by a label on the light sensitive bag. This is an important instruction and can often be missed. Aseptic departments request that the fridge/room temperature instructions are printed on the light sensitive bag.
