Histology Transportation Bag

About this product...

The Histology transportation bags are mainly used for hospital theatre specimens, GP’s send very few samples to Histology unlike the other disciplines. UN regulations require 3 layers of packaging for internal transport; 1st layer, harder outer casing i.e. metal trolley or padded bag, 2nd layer of Packaging, the Midco Transportation bag and 3rd layer of packaging, specimen bag (some hospitals count the 1st layer as the pots/buckets). Specimens from theatres will arrive in large, medium or small buckets, or the traditional specimen pots (hence up to 3 sizes of bags). The buckets contain formaldehyde which is prone to leaking due to the ill-fitting lids. Midco bags come printed with the formalin symbols and a pocket on the outside of the bag keeping the request form dry in the event of leakage.
