Pharmacy departments are having to meet stringent regulations regarding the transport and security of controlled drugs within the hospital. Midco can supply bags that are tamper evident and can be tracked from leaving the Pharmacy department and being signed for by a nurse when being delivered to the ward. This discharge bag goes one step further which has a tear off receipt which is consecutively numbered. Some pharmacy departments require the patient’s signature on the receipt to complete the audit trail. The receipt is then placed in the patient’s notes or returned back to the pharmacy as a record.

Additionally, a clear bag has been requested enabling the Pharmacist to seal the bag within the pharmacy department and the patient to open the bag when they arrive at home. This allows the nurse to check the medicines with the patient without opening the bag.
